Product Description

The Clow Aluminium Ladder Guard prevents access up your ladders by unauthorised visitors and comes with a strong lock and sturdy BZP steel medium link chain to prevent removal from the ladder. The guard is made from aluminium plate and is 1.5mm thick. There are two keys provided with the lock. Available in 280mm, 340mm and 400mm widths. Length 1850mm.

The simple one piece design of the Clow ladder guard means no loose components to lose or break, just one piece which can be secured by the included padlock.

In 2018 the HSE introduced guidelines for preventing unauthorised access onto scaffolding and other platforms. One aspect of this was the use of ladder guards for when a ladder could not practically be removed from the workplace.The requirements for the ladder guard state that they must adhere to the following requirements:

• must be locked or padlocked in place - rope is not acceptable as it can be cut
• must make each rung unusable so no more than 50mm exposed when the guard is pushed as far sideways as possible
• must cover at least 6 rungs, preventing the foot being placed on at least 5 rungs
• not be able to slide over the ladder stile as this could expose the ladder rungs
• not be able to tilt or pull away from the ladder - rungs should not be exposed at the front or climbable from the rear
• not have horizontal carry slots as these can be used as footholds
• not have handles that can be used as footholds
• guards should be matched to ladders - only narrow guard for narrow ladder
• be made from strong material that can't be broken to allow access to the rungs
