The Clow "Tradesman" Wooden Step Ladder is a strong and substantially made step ladder which is strong, rigid and safe.
The special method of construction used to manufacture this ladder ensures that the ladder will remain rigid and strong throughout its life. The Clow "Tradesman" Step Ladder is manufactured from specially selected clear Douglas Fir, an ideal material for the manufacture of structural applications due to it’s ability to safely withstand high stresses and loads. All the ladder fittings are galvanised and the strong hinges used are bolted onto the stepladder for strength.
The back legs are also half tapped and bolted which results in no weakening of the step ladder joints unlike morticed legs. The step ladder treads are checked into the sides at 11" centres and are bolted together with 1, 2 or 3 screwed and nutted tie rods. (The number of tie rods are determined by the stepladder height).
This product is manufactured in compliance with the former BS1129:1990 Class 1 specification and provides a maximum load of 175kg. Please note this British Standard has now been superceded and replaced by EN131-1:2015 and EN131-2:2-10+A2:2017 specifications. During the transition period between the old and new standards ladders manufactured to the previous specification are still available while testing and approval of new specification ladders is completed.
