Clow Heavy Duty Timber Platform Step Ladder to BS 1129 Class 1
The Clow Timber Platform Steps are made to the same exacting high standard as the Clow Timber Step Ladder except these steps are fitted with a large platform in place of the top tread.
These strong and robust steps are rated with a safe working load of 175kg and conform to Class 1 ladder certification.
The special method of construction used to manufacture these steps ensures that the step will remain rigid and safe throughout it's life.
Manufactured from specially selected Douglas Fir, the treads are checked into the side rails and bolted together with screwed and nutted tie rods for extra rigidity. All the step fittings are galvanised to prevent corrosion and the back legs are half tapped and bolted to prevent any weakening of the timber joints.
The large platform fitted at the top of the step folds flat automatically when the steps are closed and the sides extend beyond the platform edge to give extra safe support to the ladder legs.
Please note that the relative sizes of platform steps are often specified by their tread count - platform steps traditionally count the main platform as a tread. For example a six tread platform step consists of five treads plus the main platform, (as per the image on the right showing the Timber PS6 Platform Step).
